A second home should feel like an exhale the moment you arrive. Over the years PLD has followed clients to Coeur d'Alene, Sun Valley, Aspen, Park City and the California coast; these are the principles we return to.
Design for how you'll actually use it
Who comes, and for how long? Bunk rooms, flexible guest suites, mudrooms and generous gathering spaces matter more in a retreat than in a primary home.
Let the setting lead
Timber, stone and wool in the mountains; breezy linens and light woods by the water. Furnishings should feel rooted in place, never themed.

Make it durable and easy
Performance fabrics, washable slipcovers and forgiving finishes let a vacation home stay beautiful through wet boots, sandy feet and long weekends.
Deliver it turnkey
Because these homes are often designed from afar, the studio manages every order, delivery and trade, then installs and styles everything down to the linens, so the first visit feels like coming home.
